Time’s up! Answer is now revealed. It’s spicy okra with prawns – a typical dish that mom makes at home. Okra, is one of the vegetables that you either like or don’t like at all. Due to its slimy texture, some may be put off. However, I love okra a.k.a lady fingers.
Okra and prawns – best combination in heaven, with a hint of spice of the chilies. Spicy Okra with prawns is so delicious that you can eat on its own or just with a bowl of white rice. If you desire a quick meal one of these day, I reckon spicy okra with prawns would be your winning choice! It takes less than 15 minutes to prepare spicy okra and prawns. I am sure you will ask for more after trying this out.
Spicy Okra with Prawns
Yield: 2 persons
1 tbsp sunflower oil
125g okra, sliced
2 tbsp water
a pinch of salt
1 garlic clove, peeled and roughly chopped
1cm ginger, peeled and roughly chopped
2 red chilli, deseeded and roughly chopped
1 tbsp lime juice
1. Put all the ingredients, except lime juice for the chilli paste into a food processor or use pestel and mortar and grind until becomes a smooth paste. Add the lime juice and give it a good stir, set aside.
2. Heat the sunflower oil in a wok, put the chili paste and fry until fragrant under medium heat. Then, add the prawns and stir to combine, cook until the prawns become pink. Then, stir in the okra and cook for 3-4 minutes.
3. Season with salt and add 2 tbsp water. Further cook for 5 minutes until the okra is soft.
