Whirlpool MAX Mood Microwave Oven Review, Recipe & Giveaway! (CLOSED)

I have recently received a Whirlpool MAX Mood Microwave Oven to try out and write a review. The modern design of MAX Mood caught my attention hence I got really interest to see what it has to offer!  Mini on the outside, maxi inside, Max Mood is a truly unique microwave oven in a wide choice of colours to match your kitchen. It comes in Nocturnal Blue, Sensual Rouge and Cosmopolitan Pink. It is retailed in the UK at £179.

Whirlpool MAX Mood Microwave Oven has a full-size 28cm turntable and a stylish flat screen door both aesthetically pleasing and easy to clean. It comes with some accessories – turntable support, glass turntable, crisp handle, CRISP™ plate and wire rack.

My immediate impression of this cute oven is its shape. I think the design is innovative and great for space saving. A lot of those who have space issue at home, this is a great addition that fits in a corner with the clever curved back.

Apart from the normal cook, reheat and defrost functions that most microwaves have, MAX Mood has something extras – grill, grill combi and CRISP™.

I particular love grill combi. This function is great to cook gratin, lasagne, poultry and baked potatoes. CRISP™ function is awesome too as it makes cooking quiches, pizzas and dough based food possible! Crisp function is also suitable for roasting meat, fish, bacon and etc. Truly, this mini oven is great for those who want a 2-in-1 microwave.

I have made really simple grilled chicken wings with soy, honey and five-spice using grill combi function. There is no pre-heat needed like conventional oven. What you need to do is to arrange the marinated wings on wire rack and put on top of the glass turntable, set the power and cooking time, then just press start! I was really impressed with the lightly charred effect on the skin of the chicken wings using MAX Mood, which you normally achieve in the oven with grill function.

You can also use the CRISP™ function. It would have been really good as it is a unique system – the plate is heated and then you place the chicken on the plate and then place back and cook using the CRISP™ button.  It would have then browned the bottom of the chicken and at the same time grilled the top!

Based on my experience in using MAX Mood, I personally think it is a great add-on in the kitchen for those who have space concern. It is a microwave and an oven as the same time, which is great. It is very easy to use with different functions to cook different types of foods. However, if want to cook food in big serving, you may need to cook in batches as you don’t get that huge space that you get from an oven.

With this review, I am glad to mention that one Whirlpool MAX Mood Microwave Oven is up for grab! Thanks to the kind sponsorship from Whirlpool.
