Menu for Hope IV

I am glad to inform that I have been invited to take part in Menu for Hope this year, which runs from 10th ā€“ 21st December. Menu for Hope is an annual fundraising event in support of the UN World Food Programme. Five years ago, the devastating tsunami in Southeast Asia inspired Pim to find a way to help, and the very first Menu for Hope was born.

Since Iā€™m pretty new in the food blogging world, this is really new to me but I think it will definitely be a wonderful experience to be able to donate something and raffle off online for charity.

As readers of My Cooking Hut, you can donate and win prizes. The money is raised through this campaign will be going to the UN World Food Program (WFP). It will be used to fund a feeding program in the mountain of kingdom of Lesotho, South Africa.

As my first time participation, I have decided to give away one of my favourite items from my collection ā€“ Le Creuset Mini Cocotte. The prize code for this is UK26. So, why this item? First, I think it is cute. Second, if you are a fan of Le Creuset, this will add to your collection of cast iron pots and pans. Third, the mini cocotte can be used to serve any small portion of food in a nice and stylish way. Last but not least, this cast iron can retain heat and it will not let you down and bring you 100% satisfaction in your cooking!

To win this, I shall provide further instructions by tomorrow. If you have become the winner of this item, you will also receive a My Cooking Hut complimentary gift!

A mini- cocotte – how adorable. I love it. It’d be perfect for my red kitchen too!

I have recently purchased a set of mini cocottes and a set of mini plats, but am not sure where to find recipes online to explore or where I might find a recipe book that is good. I found your site by “googling” recipes for mini cocottes and it is so wonderful that I thought you might be able to provide me with some good direction. We’ve just returned from our honeymoon in Europe (Germany and Rome), and after experiencing the freshness and simplicity of the meals there, we’d like to adjust our American diet to reflect our new experiences. Thank you for any help and have a great day!

  • [Christine] They are indeed adorable. My previous collection too šŸ™‚

[Julie] Thank you for dropping by and for your comment. Mini cocottes are perfect for individual servings. You can used them for soup, pies, puddings, desserts, … and so on. Anything that you can cook in the oven. I recently used my mini cocotte to make soupe a l’oignon and it’s perfect! I shall feature this recipe soon on my blog!

    Hi,

I have the same problem! I can not find recipes for the mini creuset either.
It is a great idea to serve soup in them, but if i would make a dish with meat, vegetables and potatoes in the oven, would you serve the food in the mini creuset or serve it in the creuset next to the plate?

    Joan,
I definitely think serving meat, vegetables, and potatoes in mini le creuset is a very cool idea. I reckon, you could cook the normal way you want – for eg, do a potato & leeks bake. What would make it interesting is the way to arrange the ingredients in a nice way so that it looks more interesting in mini cocotte.
From what I think, don’t need a plate next to it at all. Serve and eat it from mini cocotte. That will be new way of serving food as it’s already in a small portion.
