Bangkok Express

If you recall my previous post on Siem Reap, you must be wondering if our journey ended there? Well, no. We flew from London to Bangkok. Then, took Air Asia flight and landed in Penang. That was when I had the opportunity to savour delicious food in Penang.

Our stay in Bangkok was short. We had about 6 hours in Bangkok after we landed at Suvarnabhumi Airport from London. I could remember it was hot and humid when we stepped out from the airport. It took us about 45 minutes to the central of Bangkok. It was probably 8-ish when we got to Chatuchak Market. Chatuchak Market only opens on Saturdays and Sundays. It was once a popular among wholesalers and traders. However, it has reached a landmark status as a must-visit place for tourists. It’s where you will shop till you drop!

There are lot to offer. From food, clothing, handicrafts, ceramics to pets!! I was really surprised when I saw a few stalls selling cute puppies as pets. Those puppies were just adorable!

Food stalls were just everywhere. My eyes were busy checking out some clothes whereas my nose was busy smelling some food and my brain was busy interpreting the messages! This place was just buzzing with everything!

It was just a short 2 hours that we had to spend time at Chatuchak Market and no where else! However, we did have half a day in Bangkok after our stay in Siem Reap. From Sieam Reap, we woke up very early in the morning to take a bus to Poipet, which is the boarder to get to Thailand. From there, we took a shared van to get to Bangkok.

In Bangkok, we stayed at Sheraton Grande Sukhumvit Hotel, which is strategically located in the hear of Bangkok’s business and entertainment district, with a direct link from hotel’s lobby to the BTS Asok skytrain station and a few steps to MRT Sukhumvit subway station. Besides, it’s just minutes away from shopping centers such as the Emporium, Gaysorn Plaza, Siam Paragon and Central World Plaza. The Sheraton Grande Sukhumvit has 420 beautifully appointed rooms and suites that provide lxurious comforts and sophisticated style.

There are 4 restaurants. We had our dinner and breakfast at Orchid Cafe. The buffet dinner was excellent! There were so many to choose from! This is what I really like about the hotels in SE Asia, we were just spoilt for choices! From fresh seafood to delicious desserts, what else could I ask for? Everything I had was very delicious!

The next morning, we went for a swim before indulging ourselves with the first meal of the day. Again, the buffet breakfast didn’t disappoint us. In fact, it was pretty difficult to make up my mind what I wanted to eat! Choices of breakfast from Western to Eastern style! It would be our first and last meal in Bangkok before we headed to the airport. But, I know that deep down, I wanted to shout out “Bangkok, I will be back!”
