Chocolates From Hotel Chocolat – Christmas Giveaways! (CLOSED)


Christmas is just around the corner and I got really excited when Hotel Chocolat approached me and asked if I wanted to do a review for their Christmas collection. I love the chocolates from Hotel Chocolat! Without any hesitation, I accepted to do a review on one of their products.

Hotel Chocolat was founded by Angus Thirlwell and Peter Harris in 1993. With a simple goal – to make a better type of chocolate available to UK consumers bored by the mediocrity of that available in supermarkets and on the high street. Originally a web and catalogue business, in 2004 the first of many Hotel Chocolat stores appeared on the UK high street. There are currently over 50 stores in the UK, 1 in Boston US, 3 in the Middle East and concessions in John Lewis stores nationwide.

I was browsing their unique Christmas gifts, there are so many to choose from and everything looks really good! They also have some really nice luxury gift bags for Christmas. I decided to choose one very eye-catching selection – The Sleekster Classic Christmas Double Layer Selection. This box contains beautiful selection of chocolates, which I think is great to be shared amongst families and friends! What I really like about this box of chocolates is that there are 2 layers, which gives you a total of 56 chocolates! So, everyone will get their shares.

In the box, there is everything for everyone, from Simple Milk Truffle (nothing but mellow milk chocolate in a smooth and creamy truffle) to very luxury Champagne Truffle (uplifting milk chocolate and cream truffle with an elegant splash of champagne)!  For those who like generous dash of alcohol, the Rum Truffle is for you – lashing of premium golden run from Saint Lucia in a milk chocolate truffle is really hard to resist!

Wintry flavours like Mulled Wine, which is packed in traditional winter flavours of cinnamon, clove and bitter orange, with a generous splash of warming, ruby red port was really delicious! Besides, Christmas Mess (uplifting fruity mousse, made with white chocolate and lots of strawberry and raspberry and finished with crushed meringue and strawberry pieces) and Gingerbread Truffle (a velvety smooth Christmassy ganache brimming with warming gingerbread flavours of cinnamon, ginger and nutmeg) were just yummy and set the Christmas mood!

My favourites? They have to be the Ginger Cheesecake and Cherry Florentine! The ginger cheesecake has firm textures and sour cream notes of cheesecake on top of a layer of spicy ginger. And the Cherry Florentine is a melt-in-the mouth white chocolate and hazelnut praline with tangy morello cherry pieces, topped with a cherry florentine square! Oh, if I could have another favourite, it has to be the Salted Soft Caramel, where the oozingly soft caramel beautifully balanced with a pinch of Maldon sea salt! To be honest, this is a great box of chocolates, so it’s difficult for me to choose my favourites! I mean, seriously, it is a box of a great Christmas treat!
